The de Brito and 3D printed bailers take removing water from the cockpit to a new level. These foot operated bailers allow the paddler to alternate between three bailer settings to maximise water removal from the cockpit or minimise drag. With a simple push of the heel on the back of the bailer the bailer will open to remove water. The bailer can remain in one of the three positions not requiring any intervention. Those familiar with the bailer may choose to alternate between open and closed positions during a race or training to minimise drag. The choice is yours...
Option 1. - 2022 deBrito Bailer
The deBrito bailers are the benchmark in surf ski bailers. They are easy to maneuver and very effective. These bailers work so well that it is possible for a cockpit to be emptied paddling using only one's hands or from a standing start with within ten strokes.
3 Positions (Fully closed, half open, fully open)
Winglets enable full open position to be locked out
Comes with screws and two gaskets
Comes with bailer cradle box
*Note: following information only relevant to bailer cradle fitting if required - The bailer cradle can be mounted with an adhesive such as Sikaflex-291i, 3M Marine Adhesive 5200 or epoxy mixed with an adhesive filler (e.g. West Systems 403).
Option 2. - 3D Printed Bailer to replace pre-2022 deBrito bailers
This 3D printed bailer has been designed to replace the pre-2022 deBrito bailers that are no longer being produced. These bailers work so well that it is possible for a cockpit to be emptied paddling using only one's hands or from a standing start with within ten strokes.
3D printed bailer (designed and produced by fritx design - www.fritx.com) serve as a replacement for the original deBrito bailer found in Nordic Kayaks, Think, Nelo and other ski brands which were fitted with the original deBrito bailer (excludes larger plastic ski bailers)
3 Positions (Fully closed, half open, fully open)
Winglets enable full open position to be locked out - the previous bailer design has been upgraded with winglets to mimic the newer deBrito bailer enabling full open position to be locked out
Comes with screws and two gaskets
Does not come with bailer cradle box (this part is only necessary if cradle box fitted in the ski is broken, which is rare)
Hint when replacing - Do not overtighten the screws. They should be just firm. Overtightening may compress the bailer seal too much causing increased water ingress.
