Nordic Kayaks Rapido
The downwind surfski with great stability.

The Rapido is the latest surfski model release from Nordic Kayaks. The Rapido was designed to sit between the Storm & Squall with a tighter seat similar to the Nitro 600 but with a wider hull for added stability. It has the typical NK Surfski characteristics but with an new narrowed nose allowing for improved wave slicing. The added rocker gives great maneuverability and together with a more forward positioned seat, it drops onto every little swell, helping you to surf with ease. We have included carbon carry handles which is unique for such a narrow model but provides for easy carrying of a wet craft or when fatigued after a race.
 
The Rapido fits between 155-195 cm and with a maximum weight of aprrox 95 kg.
 
The construction process: all NK skis are now made with autoclave and prepreg technique, a process often reserved for the aerospace industry and F1 cars. The high pressure (up to 4 x atmospheric pressure) and heat from the autoclave ensure the pre-impregnated fibres bond perfectly with the composite core creating a extra ordinary light but strong construction. This process is far superior to other techniques normally used for kayaks such as vacuum infusion or other hand lay up processes.
 
Some of the benefits of carbon fibre prepreg autoclaved composites are:
  • zero voids - reduce possibility of delaminations and air bubble related issues
  • improved ability to conform cores and fabrics to tight curvatures in-mold; again less chance of voids and weak spots
  • excellent fatigue resistance
  • controlled laminate thickness
 
In short our skis are lighter, stiffer and stronger than ever. With a polyurethane painted seamless finish to match, the line between sports equipment and a work of art may have been crossed.
 
Nordic Kayaks Rapido surfskis are available in these prepreg heat cured autoclave constructions:
  • CarbonX: Weight max 8.2-8.9 kg - Extremely light yet rigid raw naked pre-preg UD-carbon construction, highest quality divinycell foam core, stringer throughout the hull for increased stiffness and strength. Naked carbon (minimise sun exposure, priority on lightweight construction, minimal cosmetic blemishes may occur).
  • CarbonLite: Weight 9-10 kg - Pre-preg UD-carbon construction with the highest quality divinycell foam core. Reinforced with stringer for increased stiffness and strength. Ice White 2 pack paint finish.
  • CarbonComp: Weight 11-12 kg - Pre-preg UD-carbon mixed with fiberglass with the highest quality divinycell foam core. Reinforced with stringer for increased stiffness and strength. Fully painted body. Ice White 2 pack paint finish.
